How to Make Your Own Decorative Pumpkins

I don’t know about you but I get totally bored seeing the same old pumpkins on individuals front porches every year.  A couple weeks ago I went to a fall craft party.  At this party we designed pumpkins to place on our front porches.  These pumpkins were totally unique and extremely easy to make.  All you need is a few craft items to complete this fun project.

Items You Need:

Pumpkins

Scrapbook Stickers

Embellishments

Black Tights

Ribbon

To start off, there were a few different kinds of pumpkins we made at the party.  Today I’m going to share with you how we made two different pumpkins.  The first pumpkin was this black designed pumpkin.  It looks like it would be very hard to make, but in fact only took a matter of minutes.

To make this pumpkin you will need to take one of your pumpkins and wash and dry it very well.  Once your pumpkin is dry take your black tights and cut them so you only have one leg.  Take one side of your tights and place the pumpkin inside.  The bottom part of your pumpkin should be the part where your heel normally goes.

Make sure your tights are wrapped all the way around your pumpkin & trim the top where needed.  Then tie your tights in a knot so they are hooked to your stem.  You can then attach a ribbon to your stem to hide the knot you just made.  Once you complete that your black pumpkin is ready to be displayed on your front porch.

The next pumpkin we made was a polka dot pumpkin.  I’ve always thought polka dot pumpkins were cute but thought they were too hard to make.  I couldn’t have been more wrong.  These polka dot pumpkins were even easier than the ones with black tights.

To make these pumpkins you will need to wash and dry them the same way you did the pumpkins above.  However, with the polka dot pumpkins you will want to make sure your pumpkin is completely dry so your stickers/embellishments will stick to your pumpkin better.

Once your pumpkin is dry you can stick your embellishments in whatever design you would like.  I purchased my embellishments from https://www.craftdirect.com/embellishments/stickers.html, they were already sticky on the back so all I needed to do was stick them on.  It was seriously just that easy.  My pumpkin looked like a million dollars in a matter of minutes!

These pumpkins are now sitting on my front porch.  I can’t count the number of compliments I have had on them.  Now you can make some of your own to dress up your porch!!

Feel free to send me pics of your pumpkin designs!! I would love to see them and if you want I could even post them!  I’m always looking for new fun ideas!!
