How to Make a Decorative Laundry Basket

I am all about getting organized.  Usually one of my goals for the new year is to have a nice and neat home with everything in it’s place.  As Christmas is coming upon us my thoughts have shifted to the new year.  I recently made a handful of these baskets that you will find here in my tutorial today to store my childs toys in.  I love how they turned out and love how tidy they look in my home.  Here is how you can make some of your very own.

What is Needed:

  • Inexpensive Laundry Basket (You can find one of these at the Dollar Store)
  • Scrap Fabric
  • Jute Rope
  • Nylon Rope
  • Hot Glue Gun

How to Create:

This project is seriously one of my favorite projects I have made in a long time.  I love how simple yet classy it looks.  To begin, take your scrap fabric and create a lining inside your basket.  I just cut mine to fit the basket and glued it over the edges like shown in the picture above.

Once you have your lining attached on the inside it’s time to create the outside.  Decide on a pattern you want to create ahead of time so when you begin attaching your rope you know just how to do it.

To attach the rope place hot glue on your rope as you wrap it around your basket.  Continue this process until your basket it completely covered.  You can do any pattern or style you would like with your different rope designs.

Once your basket is complete wait for it to dry.  Then fill it up and enjoy!!

I would love to see your basket designs!! Feel free to send them to me to share with other readers!!
