How to Gel Stain a Garage Door

I don't know about you, but I love unique looking garage doors.  Recently the garage door on the front of my house was getting extremely worn out.  It had a bunch of scratches on it as well as some sun damage.  After I couldn't take it anymore I decided to try gel staining my garage.  It turned out amazing and I couldn't be happier with it!

If you want to gel stain your garage here are some tips to help you in the process.

Step 1:  Pressure wash your garage door.  This will clean off all the dirt, debris & cob webs which are all over it.  It will help your paint to stick to your garage door much easier.

Step 2:  Start painting your garage a section at a time.  Use your gel stain and a paint brush to evenly brush your mixture on.

Step 3:  Let your first layer dry completely before painting another layer on.  I let my garage sit 24 hours before painting my 2nd layer of paint on.  Because your garage is the focal point of you house it's important to make sure this project turns out perfectly.

After painting my garage I found a new love for gel stain.  It seriously gave my garage doors a faux wood look.  I can't count the number of compliments I have received on it and seriously have fallen in love with it.

To paint your garage doors like the picture above all you need to do is follow my simple tutorial.  Follow each step word for word and you too will find yourself with a garage door makeover that is extremely inexpensive.  You will love the results and will love the character it adds to your home.
