Ho Ho Ho Wordblocks

I’m always looking for new creative ways to decorate my home for the Holidays.  Recently while  browsing the internet I came across some Ho Ho Ho word blocks I fell in love with how cute they were and wanted to make some of my very own.  I was surprised how easy they were to make and  how much fun they were to put together.  Here is how I completed the project.

Items Needed:

1 2x4

Red Acrylic Paint

Green Acrylic Paint

Paint Brush

Cricut Machine

Vinyl(I used White)

Embellishments

Mod Podge

Once you have the items needed the project is so easy to put together.  When you purchase the wood at your local lumber store you can ask them to cut your wood into the sizes you need if you don’t have a saw at home.  I cut my 2x4 into 3 pieces.  Two pieces were cut 5.5 inches long and one piece was 4.5 inches long.

Next,  take your 3 pieces of wood and sand them so that there are no rough edges on any side.  Once your wood is smooth to the touch you can stop sanding.

Then, use your acrylic paint to paint each piece of wood.  I did my two outside pieces of wood red and the middle one gray like the picture I found online. Be sure to let each layer of paint dry completely before applying another coat.

Once your paint is completely dry it’s time to add on the letters.  With your Cricut Machine and your favorite font cut out the words Ho Ho Ho.  If you don’t have a Cricut machine either borrow one from a friend or invest in your own.  I purchased mine from https://www.craftdirect.com/cricut/machines.html I’ve found that they have the best deals on Cricut machines.  It’s definitely a tool you will use often in your crafting.

After your words are cut out attach them to your blocks of wood.  Apply a layer of Mod Podge over top the letters & paint on the wood.  This will help protect your blocks from getting ruined.

Once your Mod Podge is dry the fun starts! Take out your embellishments & begin designing.  I used a glue gun to attach buttons & ribbon to my blocks.  I kept my blocks simple but totally love how they turned out.

These Ho Ho Ho blocks are not only a great addition to your Christmas decor but also work great as neighbor & friend gifts.  This year I am going to make a batch of these to hand out to some of my closest friends.  I can’t wait to see the look on their face when they receive them.  They also work great for charity events & secret Santa.

If you want to create this simple design for your home it is totally easy to do.  By following the simple steps above you can create these word blocks in almost no time at all.  You will not only love the addition it gives to your Christmas decor but will love the fun you have in making it as well.
