DIY Valentines Day Card

As you follow my blog you will begin to realize just how obsessed I am with designing cards.  Let’s face it, if you go to your local store to purchase an already made card you end up spending at least $3-$5.  When you make your own homemade cards you can usually make 10 for that price.

Today I am going to share with you my latest project.  I put together a handful of Valentines Day cards for the upcoming Holiday and loved how this one turned out.  I thought I would share with you today how I made this card.

Products Needed:

Blue & White Cardstock

Blue & White Scrapbook Paper

Heart Die Cut

Embellishments

Glue Gun

Valentines Day Stamp

Glue Stick

Craft Punch

Blank Greeting Card Set

Often, whenever I make a homemade card I make 10-12 of the exact same card instead of just one.  That way if I am ever in need of a card and don’t have time to make one, I have a selection of cards to choose from.

Now, to start the project you will need to take your blank greeting card set.  Pull out the number of cards you will be creating and set them on the table so they are ready to go.

Next, cut out a Blue piece of cardstock in the shape of a square.  Be sure to cut your square so that it is smaller than the blank card which will go behind it.  The blank card which you attach your Blue square to should create a border around it, like shown in the picture above.

After you have created your square, attach it to the front of your card.

Then, make another square with your white scrapbook paper.  Be sure to cut this square even smaller than your Blue one you just created.  If you get confused just follow the picture.

Once you have your White scrapbook paper square cut out, attach it on top of the Blue square you created just before.

Then, cut out a 2” rectangle that will fit on the bottom of your card.  Use your favorite craft punch to cut a border around your rectangular piece.  If you don’t have one, you can usually find a large selection of craft punches at https://www.craftdirect.com/tools/punches.html for a great deal.  When you are done punching around your rectangle it should look similar to the picture shown above.

Attach your blue rectangular piece to your card and place a plain White rectangular piece on top of it.

Then take your Valentines Day Stamp and stamp on the inside of the White rectangular piece you just created and attached to your card.

Lastly, add your embellishments and your heart die cut to the front of your card.  You can attach these in whatever design you would like.

Once you have completed that step your card is done and ready to be sent out.

I hope you enjoyed how easy this card was to make!  Follow my blog to discover more great ways to design homemade cards!
