DIY Embossed Card

My new favorite thing is embossing.  I recently discovered it and have fallen in love with it.  I make home made cards each month as part of a card club.  At the end of each month we give one of our homemade cards to each member of the group.  I’ve done it for many years and was starting to feel like I was running out of ideas.  That is until I discovered embossing.  It’s seriously the best.

Today I am going to share with you one of my favorite cards I made with the help of my embossing machine.  It was super easy to put together and was actually a lot of fun to make.

How to Make the Card:

Step 1:  Take your blank white card & measure the height, width of the front of it.  Once you know the size of your card take a plain colored piece of cardstock and cut it out so that it is ⅛” smaller than the actual size of your card..  For this piece I chose gray.  I thought it would look cute behind my blue damask design.

Step 2:  Now pull out your cardstock that you are going to emboss.  Cut this paper down so that it is1/2” smaller on each side than your other piece of cardstock that you just cut out.

Step 3:  Once you have your cardstock that you are going to emboss cut out, it’s time to insert the design onto it.  Take your cardstock & with your embossing machine create the design.  I used the CGull Damask embossing folder from https://www.craftdirect.com/cgull/embossing-folders.html to create my design.  It’s one of my favorite designs out there.

Step 4:  Once Your paper is embossed take it and cut it into 3 equal parts.

Step 5:  Use Your die cutting machine to cut out some type of design to go in the middle of the card.  I cut out two of the same design in different colors.  But with this step you can seriously make it your own.  Pick a favorite design that you want to attach to the middle with your saying.

Step 6:  Cut a ribbon or an embossed piece of paper to go accross your card horizontally.  I used a scrap piece of embossed paper that I already had, but you could also use a piece of ribbon there instead.

Step 7:  Put everything together.  Attach your pieces in the order shown above.  First attach your plain piece of cardstock, then your 3 embossed pieces of cardstock, your ribbon or embossed strip of paper, your center piece for the middle, and last but not least a stamp with some embellishments.

I seriously love the way these cards turned out and can’t wait to give them to my friends and family members to see what they think of them.  This is going down in the books as one of my favorite cards I have ever made.
